Telecommunications Technician

Mankamy NZ Limited is growing and looking for Telecommunications Technician covering wide range of work areas.

Mankamy NZ Limited is a New Zealand based company working with Chorus on delivering telecommunication service in Ultra Fast Broadband network throughout the New Zealand. Mankamy does service other sector as well.

We have a 2 positions available for a Telecommunications Technician. We are seeking a outstanding individuals to join our team. We work all around New Zealand and have positions available in the following regions Auckland, Canterbury, Nelson-Marlborough, Southland, Otago, Bay of Plenty & Waikato.

This opportunity is for motivated individual who is interested in working on a project that will provide New Zealanders with access to the communications technology of the future. Successful candidates will be responsible for installing fibre connections to homes and business premises. This is a role that will allow you to develop new skills and gain experience in a rapidly growing industry, or apply existing skills and experience with a company who can offer career development within telecommunications Industry.

Pre-requisites/Minimum Requirements:

Any type of relevant experience in the Telecommunication or ICT industry is preferred but not essential. (Full Training will be provided to perform all the duties as Technician)
Clean Class 1 NZ Full Driver’s Licence or equivalent overseas licence
Clean Police Records
Be fit and healthy
Job Responsibilities:

Installation and Programming Optical Network Terminal.
Testing fibre-optic connections with the help of fibre inspection kit.
Replacing and repairing faulty telecommunications equipment such as phone jack points and RJ12/45.
Installing and joining cabling for telecommunication services.
Testing and maintaining aerial and underground telecommunication network cables.
Install CAT5E cable from fibre Termination Point to the desired location of ONT and RGW.
Locating network faults using various instruments and measuring equipment.
Connecting fibre-optic cables by fusion splicing.
Set-up Local Area Networks (LAN) and configuring customers site equipment to specification.
Configuration of customer-owned computers for internet and Wi-Fi access.
Troubleshoot all network technology related problems.
Monitor all services, identify issues and resolve any problems in equipment.
Perform maintenance work on network, initiate test and perform troubleshooting.
